The Canaanite Woman of Faith

John 4:7-26
21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

The display of faith by this woman of Canaan can cause the hair to stand up on the back of the neck. Consider, even as she is begging for help Jesus himself is telling her, "I'm not here for you" but she is not to be turned aside.

Faith of this magnitude, can it be replicated in our world today? We do not know anyone who first hand experienced his touch or his voice. We did not get the opportunity to see his miracles first hand. How can we have the same faith?

It is essential that we begin to understand that He has not stopped communicating with us. The miracles of faith still happen. We just chalk them up to works of our own hands, or works of science, or works of technology. But I ask you, how do you look at any of those works and not know that only a God who is listening and watching participated in the success of any of those endeavors.

Challange yourself to see God's fingerprints and voice in your life. Examples might include things like when you quietly prayed to pass a class, or get a job you interviewed for. Another example might be when you look at a family member or close friend who needs help and you shoot up a prayer asking for the help you know you aren't able to provide.

When the need is filled, or the crisis averted, do we remember to credit God. Let's take that a step further, when you call out in despair do we take those past experiences into that prayer knowing that God will take care of you?
John 14:11-14
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
